In a country where agriculture provides the livelihood of over 70% of the population, the festivals and ceremonies to encourage a bountiful harvest are central elements of life of rural communities. These rites celebrated during the sixth lunar month (around May) indicate the beginning of the planting season.
Born traditional beliefs of the Isan, sparkling "Bun Bang Fai" Rocket Festival , the most celebrated of Isan for ceremonial merits, is strictly respected by the people of Isan for generations and is essentially an annual ritual that the rainy season comes at the right time in the planting cycle. In this process, Buddhist merit and traditions are respected and strengthened.
